Eczema is a form of skin disorder that affects the epidermis
or outer layer of the skin. Symptoms of

1. Milk and Dairy Products
Casein in milk and milk products can trigger an eczema

2. Wheat-Based Products
Some people are allergic to the gluten in wheat. It is best to avoid wheat-based foods such as
bread, pancakes, crackers, bagels and donuts.
Cereals such as oats, barley and rye can also trigger eczema.
3. Nuts
Walnuts, almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, peanuts and pistachios
can cause an allergic reaction that can trigger or worsen eczema. People with eczema should avoid these foods.
4. Seafood
Many people are allergic to seafood like crabs, prawns,
lobster, salmon, mussels, clams, etc.
These foods are dangerous for people with eczema and should be avoided.
5. Eggs and Soy Products
Other food items that can worsen eczema are eggs and soy-based
products such as tofu and soy milk.
6. Food Additives
Food colourings and food preservatives such as tartrazine and
sodium benzoate can cause an outbreak of eczema. Monosodium glutamate should also be avoided
by sensitive individuals. If you have
eczema, stay away from processed foods to relieve your skin condition.

If you suspect that certain foods trigger or worsen your
eczema, the first step in an eczema diet is to identify the foods you are
allergic to. Avoid certain foods that
you think worsen eczema symptoms.
Follow your elimination diet for a few weeks and try to
identify what foods were consumed prior to the onset of the symptoms. If your eczema improves during the
elimination diet period, it is likely that the suspected foods are dangerous
for you.
